Watching Team USA always makes me wonder can the current NBA champion defeat it? Obviously, such match is impossible to organise, but why now have the second best thing which is the NBA champion vs the rest of the league.

With the current state of the NBA All-Star game why not simply replace the West vs East game with a NBA champion vs rest of the league game. This can also help to determine how good a team really is against its competition. I think the quality of the game will be much better since players’ egos will be involved. In best case scenario the All-star game can be a sort of “super champion” NBA-like Super Bowl game which players and potential goat candidates can boast in their resumes.

Anyone knows if this has ever been discussed in the NBA?

Yep, because nobody wants to get injured playing in a meaningless game. If you give the game some meaning players will want to compete. Basically, it gives a chance to compare champions between seasons… I think this will be a very big motivation for a lot of stars.

Professional athletes don’t fear injury as much as you seem to.
