Drafted in back-to-back years, Giannis and Embiid had different paths to stardom (years of development and injury recovery respectively) They’ve both been in the playoffs in the same conference for 7 of the last 8 seasons (Embiid missing 2017 and Giannis missing 2024 with injuries) Despite that, they’ve never matched up in the playoffs. Part of it can be attributed to their teams having higher seedings, thus making it impossible to match up in the first round. Injuries may have prevented the matchup last season specifically, and otherwise they kept running into Boston or Miami.
