Look at any city’s downtown. It’s where the buildings are tallest. It’s where the most economic activity occurs. When it comes to getting from one place to another, the downtown area is the hardest to get to due to traffic.

Now look at the basketball court. Where are the tallest players usually located? Near the basket. Where is the highest volume of shots? Near the basket. What is the hardest place to get to while dribbling the basketball? Near the basket.

Which is why when commentators exclaim things like, “Curry from way downtown!” it makes no sense! Clearly Curry is shooting from way UPtown because he is far from the basket. It should be, “Doncic from the burbs!” or “Tatum with the looooong commute!” or “Extend the light rail, Lillard is shooting from waaay uptown!”
