I was thinking what the most optimistic scenario for the nuggets could be with this Westbrook signing. And how even if he reverted all the way back to his prime, it still wouldn’t be a good fit.

Russ at his best needs the ball a lot. His lack of shooting and lack of off ball activity means he doesn’t add much on offense.

Giving him the ball a lot means taking it out of jokic’s hands and Jamal Murray’s hands. And because of Russ and his non-shooting ability, it also means you probably can’t play Aaron Gordon at the same time with him either.

I hate in Russ. But he’d feast with a stretch five. Still make some dumb moves.

Prime Russ brought a team who had no shooting and whose second option was Enes Kanter Freedom to the playoffs.

Imagine what he could do if he played with one of the greatest offensive players of all time in addition to tonnes of competent high-level rotation players.

He did that once. That team went to the conference finals and lost to the 73 win warriors in SEVEN games.

Yeah duh. He and Jokić would fucking cook in his prime.

I still think he’s a better fit for the nuggets than either the Clips or the Lakers. Jokić is one of the most adaptable players on the league. He plays with dudes with radically different styles (AG, MPJ, Murray) and is able to harmonize them like no other player. Out of those three AG’s offensive skill set is most similar to Russ’s, and Jok’s two man game with AG is bonkers.

The Nuggets wouldn’t be better with 2017 Westbrook having a 40% usage rate chasing triple doubles

100% NO. dude was so ball dominant and couldn’t shoot enough to space. He only makes sense on this team if he’s there to give them 2-4 minute bursts of energy when the first team is out.

The fit would be atrocious, but the talent would make up for it at least a little bit

Prime Russ makes sense on any team cause the league is even more spaced out than in his prime. Now even bigs can stretch the floor.

Would prime LeBron have worked on the nuggets? Both Jokic and LeBron need the ball and like to pass, so probably not.
