I just think it’s funny how if an NBA team claims to be world champions, it’s “American arrogance,” but the Euroleague champions can do it with no backlash whatsoever. Apparently Europe = the world.

Europeans don’t call themselves World Champions, unless the nation wins the Fiba World Cup.

Yeah…I get what you’re saying but this is the equivalent of an MLS team challenging the winner of the Champions League

How’s the euro league title the world champion then? He’s implying they have to beat them to get the title. I’d love to see it to be honest. Celtics can pull up to the arena in their jerseys and warmups, tipoff in 30min and wipe the floor with the Greeks. If they were playing at the level they did in the playoffs, it’s a 120-50 blowout with 20 of the Greek points coming in garbage time

no, just the ‘world champ’ should beat somebody from that world. you wanna call yourself wc? don’t hide from the challenge.

and I can see pao coming in just in socks, bells on their nipples, and use just the off hand to beat celts by 60. how’s that for the scenario?

The world champion is the winner of the FIBA World Championship. The participating teams consist of players of one nationality and represent the respective country. Why should privately managed teams with players of different nationalities be called ‘world champions’? That is simply wrong.

Bro, I am Greek and I think this match would be completely unnecessary as the Celtics will drop 40 on Panathinaikos even without their starters.

Americans pretending to be “World Champions” at something when its just a (mostley) national league is annoying AF. Almost as annoying as a Turk who thinks his Greek team has any chance against the NBA champions.

Both suffer from delusions of grandeur. No the world doesnt end at the US border, no the Euroleague isnt as good as the NBA.

I mean Boston clearly wins based on talent and schemes, but what if it’s FIBA rules?

Instead of winning by 50, maybe they win by 30. Who are we kidding.

Nobody cares about the Euroleague….it’s why players there make nothing near what NBA players make.

You can only be world champion if you play in American (Canadian) club. Only American billionaires/owners of this league can invite you to join. It’s simple. If you want a club from your country to become champion, you’re out of luck. You were born in the wrong place.

This guy is an amazing coach but also a complete nutjob. He has a huge ego and probably the shortest tempered person you’ll ever see if he makes his way to nba someday. I’d really like to see that.
