Sue Bird and Carmelo Anthony talked about their experiences playing for team USA basketball in a recent episode of Melo’s podcast. Bird claimed that playing for team USA was the most uncomfortable basketball she’s ever played. Do you think the players’ on the men’s team feel the same way?
I wonder how much that has to do with the fact that it’s the NBA offseason, so some of the season and postseason adrenaline and angst has worn off. They came in much more relaxed. Whereas the WNBA players go from competing against each other then playing with each other, knowing that they’ll be going right back to playing against each other. Like, I don’t want to spend a month becoming too friendly with someone I’m currently competing against in the league for a championship.
