As you can see the roster has changed dramatically. McGee was so washed Powell had to start after a few games that season. Nico Harrison has done an amazing job on how he has transformed this roster with limited assets on hand.
A Kyrie/Klay/Luka rotation is Swiss cheese on defense and without DJJ to take the primary guard and quicker wing assignments, whatever gains the Mavs made on offense this off season will be offset by their perimeter defense getting worse
PJ Washington is good as a help side defender but he gets blown by 1 on 1 and Lively’s rim protection while great won’t matter when he has to constantly help on his perimeter defenders getting blown by resulting in opponent wide open 3s
