How come a lot of MLB players can play basketball at a fairly decent level. Yet very few NBA players can even hit a baseball properly traveling at 30 MPH or even stationary. Seriously. Why are MLB players so capable of playing basketball in general but NBA players could hardly play baseball?

On the other hand you have Joe Mauer, Buster Posey, Barry Bonds, Kenny Lofton, Tony Gwynn, Bryce Harper, Patrick Corbin, Tim Anderson, Dave Winfield, etc.
Hitting a baseball is really fucking hard. Elite hand eye coordination.
