This was an infamous quote by James Harden like 4 years ago. Is there any validity behind that quote? How does it make sense that it actually takes no skill to dunk consistently?

That’s like saying that Aaron Judge is 6’7 yet takes no skill to launch baseballs 450 feet. Why don’t you see baseball fans criticize Judge for this when he won MVP in 2022 over Ohtani?

Think about it this way, would Giannis still be in the league if he wasn’t 6’10 built like a truck?

It’s not that he has no skill - it takes a LOT of skills to move the way he does but he relies on his physical tools way more than other players.

A guy like KD would still be lethal if he was 6’5. He wouldn’t be shooting over people, but his handles are more than good enough to generate enough separation for a good look. LeBron would still make a great point guard even if he wasn’t an athletic freak.

But again… there’s nothing wrong with that. He’s utilizing the tools than he’s been given and has had a lot of success with it.
