I’ve recently seen people consider upper tier players like Lillard and Kawhi as “borderline superstars “ and now I’m curious

    This is like saying 2016 Kobe and Wizards Mj are superstars. If they are superstars, thae it should never be used in the context of how good someone currently is.

      They were/are superstars because they had already achieved all those things and cemented themselves in history as one of the greatest of all time, regardless of how the last legs of their career went. The whole world knows who they are and people today are still buying their merch even in retirement.
