If she never wants to compete, coach, or be involved with international gymnastics then yeah there’s no consequences.

Also the medal itself doesn’t matter. Like having it doesn’t mean IOC will recognize her as the actual 3rd place in history books. Like yeah it has monetary value and she could sell it for thousands, but outside of that if the IOC doesn’t rule in her favor, I’m not sure why she’d want to keep something that will remind her of how traumatic this situation is.

Regardless of who gets this medal this whole situation is a complete shit show at this point

After going through all of this crap, I’m not sure anybody would feel like competing, coaching, or be involved with international gymnastics for a long time especially if the end result is getting screwed out of your medal.

At this point that’s the only thing that makes sense considering how much hate all the athletes are getting. Hopefully the IOC comes to its senses.

Like this medal is forever tainted anyways. It’s always going to have this controversy attached to it. None of these girls will ever be able to get the full enjoyments of being a bronze medalist. So just stop this nonsense and give them all a medal

Which is what Romania asked the IOC to do, and is the right thing to do given the fuckup is their judges fault.
