After watching the swim and track running events, it poses the question: is training for competitive sprinting or competitive swimming healthiest for the athlete (General health, longevity, etc.) I am a former sprinter 100m-400m and felt very fit running 100m in 11s. I am debating to start either competitive swimming or getting back into track and field, with hopes to look and feel at my best for the remainder of my life. I am 25 years old and can still run 11.7s in the 100. But I am interested in competitive swimming. Thoughts?

Long terms speaking, swimming. But outside some rare exceptions (the perfect alien Katie Ledecky or the absolute beast Florian Manoudou) peak came at younger age.
